If you’ve ever tried to fly one of those very popular indoor radio controlled helicopters, you’ll know that they’re far from easy. The first thing that happens is you knock a vase off the table, the second is it hits a wall too hard and fun’s over for the day. Or month.

Which is why we’re liking this new Revell Cager product. It’s basically a radio controlled flyer, which is encased in a wall and furniture friendly cage, which means that hitting stuff doesn’t result in the kind of damage that can wreck relations and break toys. Perfect for a beginner or someone living in a household full of overly paranoid personnel.

Inside the cage things are pretty normal for this type of toy. The flyer itself is a 3 channel, gyro enabled multi-wing copter, with infra red control and rechargeable battery. The thing flies for about 6 to 8 minutes per 20 minute charge, and you’ll need six AA batteries to power up the controller. Oh and there’s a couple of flashing LEDs on the unit too, for fun night time flying.

As you can see from our fun but hazardous test video above, it’s not really any easier to fly than standard indoor helicopters, but who cares? Because this time, your banging and crashing will do nothing to harm your toy, and you’ll live to fly another day. It’s freedom, man, freedom.
