Sony Xperia Z 4G Tablet – is this the best tablet computer in the world right now? Possibly. [Video Review]

If product coolness was measured in ice cream, the new Sony Xperia Z 4G Tablet would be a triple choc whipped Sundae, with maraschino cherries, white truffle chunks and lashings of dark Belgian chocolate sprinkles on a bed of silver sugar flecks. Yes it’s that delicious.

But before we continue any further, one quick question. What on earth is going on with Sony? Just a mere 24 months ago the company was the laughing stock of the tech world. A hated, hacked, has-been with inept product policies and destined to follow Microsoft into the dark depths of Derision Valley. Boy how things can change.

Today it’s like the Japanese giant has been given a heart and brain transplant, surprising us first with the new Xperia Z smartphone, then embracing Open Source software and now with this brilliant new tablet and what looks like an equally impressive upcoming Playstation 4. Wow!

Anyway back to matters in hand. We’ve been using this new Xperia Z 10.1 inch Android tablet for a while now and as you can tell we’re more than a little smitten. Reason number one is we now know, for the first time as Android lovers, what it feels like to walk into a room carrying something that is truly lustworthy. Up till now this privilege has been reserved almost exclusively for the mighty Apple, but no longer.

The ultra sleek, almost unbearably cool Sony oozes style from every corner of its 266 mm by 172 mm by 6.9 mm rich black body. It’s lighter to carry around than most smartphones, and it’s hard not to keep glancing at the thing as you sit smugly sipping your Columbian Roast at the local cafe, trying hard to come up with an excuse to caress the screen into action. Check out our video review after the jump.
