If you’re into science fiction, you’ll love the great deal that’s currently on offer from the SF and fantasy website Tor.com. The site is celebrating its fifth anniversary, and as a rather splendid grand gesture it’s making available an anthology of five years of original fiction. That’s around 4000 pages of cool SF prose for free download peeps!

The download is currently still on offer for another couple of days, and you will have to sign up as a member to take advantage of it. Be warned, the file sizes are pretty large, which has apparently caused some Kindles to cry out in pain and refuse admission.

We managed to download the .mobi file quite easily, and manually copied and pasted it into the Kindle folders on both phone and PC. On the PC the Kindle books are stored at c:\Users\Yourname\My Documents\My Kindle Content and on your Android phone you’ll find the Kindle content lurking on your default storage device (either SD card or internal phone memory) at \Android\data\com.amazon.kindle\files.

Once there just synch your Kindle library and pull the book up for a jolly good read. On the PC you may need to double click the actual book file from Windows Explorer initially to get the Kindle Library to see it properly first time. Enjoy.
