Smarter than the average…

Smart SMS shopping!

Smarter SMS. Comparison shopping via SMS. Yet another application for mobile phones that should scare retailers to bits. How long before handsets are banned inside shops, eh?

‘Whenever possible, always send the manufacturer part number rather than generic keywords, e.g. send ‘M9160LL/A’ (part number for a mini-iPod), rather than ‘mp3 player’
Always locate the part number that’s labeled on the product/box rather than the part number on store labels (stores often create their own part numbers)
Don’t add any noise words to your query, like ‘price’, ‘online’, etc’

  • Wow, this is really something! I can find cheaper products online, then pay massive shipping charges from the US! :oD

    ;o)

  • Ok. You never told us you had smileys built in. :(

  • Yo DUDE! Welcome back. :-) Smileys and all other sorts of groovy stuff (even a PDA version!!)

  • I used to use pricerunner via wap for this sort of thing, but they took the search off the site. Have you tried scrolling through 700 products 5 at a time on WAP – well don’t bother. It’s a shame really cos it was dead good. I even wrote to the CEO to get them to add it back, but he told me that not many people use the WAP site – well you’ve got one less now buddy!!!

  • I just think that this sort of tech has the potential to completely change the way that we shop. We could even return to some form of bargaining situation, with storekeepers and shoppers haggling over a hot cellphone. And don’t forget in a lot of countries, that’s still the norm – even on conventional high streets!

  • Yea red. Thanks for the email. Didn’t know you cared so much! ;)
