Have you heard the latest buzz about Twitter working on an edit button that will finally allow users to correct their 140-character messages when the fingers fly just a little faster than the brain? Well, you might want to take a deep breathe and pay extra-close attention as you type your Twitter messages because the wait might be longer than initially expected.
Social media is grate great, except when those petty pesky typos rear they’re there their ugly heads, and it seems like editing should be such a simple feature to include. After all, Facebook lets you edit messages; so does Google+. Why not Twitter?
It seemed like what must have been an obvious oversight was finally being corrected when blogger Matthew Keys reported that Twitter was working on an edit feature for tweets.
There was much rejoicing throughout Internet land. Babies no longer woke parents at 3AM to be fed, dogs and cats became best friends, and snow started to taste like chocolate… and then CNET had to go and spoil everything.
According to that site, sources familiar with the matter are saying “Twitter is not actively exploring an edit feature.”
We personally don’t know how anybody could inactively explore the feature so we’re assuming it will probably be a while – possibly a very long while – before an edit button appears on the Twitter control panel. In the meantime, use caution when tweeting.
