Regular readers may remember that we raved about the original OSO DashGrip back last year, and as our video review shows we were really impressed with the sticking capabilities of the product and the ease of use. Well the company has not stood still, and the new model, the OSO DashGrip Ex has added an extremely cool feature to make it even easier to use.
The secret new ingredient is a tiny hinged flap on the bottom part of the mounting clamp, which lets you insert the phone instantly with just one hand, no fiddling around with two hands over the top of your steering wheel to get the handset mounted. It sounds small, but believe me, it’s a massive improvement.
The team also appears to have stiffened up the mount, so it’s sturdier and less prone to juddering, which is again a big usability improvement that satnav users will appreciate as they try and read their screens on less than smooth roads. We’ve been using the original DashGrip constantly since our review, and it’s still going strong, with the suction/sticky combination still as strong as ever.
All in all this is a valuable and worthwhile improvement to an already great smartphone car mount, so we’re happy to continue recommending the product as without doubt the best car mount we’ve ever used. The OSO DashGrip Ex is priced at $29.99 or £24.99.
