Touchfire – ultra tiny keyboard turns your iPad into a typing wizard

Tablet computers are great, but they do lack one very obvious detail. Yes, trousers. They also lack something almost as important, which is a a cool keyboard. Say what you will, typing on a flat hard screen doesn’t really work for getting stuff done quickly. For that you need a bit extra.

Which is where the Touchfire comes into play. This ultra thin, ultra light keyboard case combo sits atop your iPad tablet when not in use, and then turns into a prodigious typing keyboard when needed. What’s brilliant is it has no electronics, it’s just silicone with some clever engineering to trigger the touchscreen.

The keyboard delivers the all important haptic response your fingers demand if they’re to offer their top typing speeds, and to ensure the keys are positioned correctly over the top of the touchscreen keyboard, the whole thing is held in place with magnets (rather like the Apple case).

The keyboard works with all four generations of full sized iPads, as well as the Mini and Air models. Prices start at $39.99. Brilliant (now we need it for Android tablets too!)
