Cell Phone Recon – set up your very own NSA operation from your laptop

How would you like to set up your very own security service? You know, like spying on people, keeping tabs on their conversations, all the things our governments enjoy so much right now? You would? Great. We’ve got a nice little tool for you to use, right this way. Mind your head on the CCTV cameras as you come in.

The Cell Phone Recon is a little USB gadget which combines with a secret app which you install on the target phone, after which point you have complete access to their call logs, text messages, and GPS location information. Good enough for you?

No, unfortunately there’s no way as yet to mimic the government’s mass surveillance, since you have to install the app on each target phone, but we’re sure someone somewhere is working on it. In the meantime you can access all this lovely private data in near real time from the safety and comfort of your computer, and since the thing runs covertly in the background, no-one is the wiser.

The target phone obviously needs GPS and a data connection in order for this to work, and for iPhones you’ll need a pair of binoculars and a hearing aid, since this works only with Android, Symbian and Blackberry handsets. Priced at $139.
