Quite a little industry has built up around RFID security, as companies cash in on our fear of having our cards or passports cloned by unscrupulous people. We’re not sure how common this RFID theft stuff actually is, but in case you’re worried, here’s a product which might help.

The Scanner Guard Card is a set of two plastic cards which you use to sandwich your credit cards in your wallet. The idea is the two cards act to prevent any RFID scanner from picking up on the chip data, so you’re safe.

Because the two cards are the same size as credit cards, they’ll happily sit alongside your other cards in the wallet, and of course this solution means you don’t have to spend even more money on a special anti-RFID scanner wallet etc. You can shield up to 6 cards with the set, although we’re not exactly sure whether some duct tape and aluminum foil wouldn’t do the same job.
