They say that time flies, and boy does it. Especially as you get older, when days merge into weeks into months. It’s hard to keep track of what’s been happening in the world, when all you can remember is buying cheese last week. Or was it milk?
Now there’s a very cool little app called You’re Getting Old, which aims to help you review the events that have happened since you were born. It also gives you a ton of other information, which you’d probably rather do without, like the number of times your heart has ticked since birth.
Did you know that when old people (we’re talking over 60) were born, there were just 2 billion people alive on the planet? Isn’t that mind-blowing? Anyway, by far the most interesting part of the app is the chronological timeline of events, split into decades, which show you exactly what milestone things happened in the world as you grew up and older.
Clearly this gets most interesting as you get older, for instance we ran a date of an 82 year old and she was born the same year the car firm Audi was founded (and she was 5 when VW was launched). Weird. OK, so it’s a diversion, but it’s fun in a historical kind of way too, especially as you try to remember what you were doing when these events happened. Definitely worth a play, and click on the more button if you want to see a looong list of events for each decade.
