Microsoft has released the Malicious Software Removal Tool which can be used from the website or downloaded. What a lovely, caring company.

The Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool checks Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Windows Server 2003 computers for and helps remove infections by specific, prevalent malicious software—including Blaster, Sasser, and Mydoom. When the detection and removal process is complete, the tool displays a report describing the outcome, including which, if any, malicious software was detected and removed. Microsoft will release an updated version of this tool on the second Tuesday of each month.

  • Goes nicely with their free (in beta) AntiSpyware app which works remarkably well.

  • BILL GATES: Okay, peeps, we need a tool to remove malicious software from computers.

MICROSOFT MINION: Well, Boss, there’s a program called Spybot that does the job pretty well.

BILL GATES: Groovy! Steal the idea but give it a sexy, hip, happening name.

MICROSOFT MINION: Can do, Boss. Any ideas for a “sexy, hip, happening name”?

BILL GATES: You’ve come to the right man. God knows I’m an expert on sexy and hip. Hmm…how about this: Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool.

MICROSOFT MINION: I like it! It rolls right off the tongue and leaves behind a taste like fresh strawberries! No wonder you’re the boss.

BILL GATES: Thank you. Now get out, it’s time for Oprah.

  • ROFL! Excellent. :-)

  • Radix, oh so the Giant Corp purchase by M$ was worthwhile then? :-)
