Spendee – new app stops you nickel and diming yourself into an overdraft

Budgeting is the worst part of being a grown-up, and using debit and credit cards makes it even harder since you can’t actually see how much money you have left. Spend $100 in cash and it’s easy to notice, since you literally do not have that cash anymore.  Spendee is an app that helps you visualize your transactions in real time and hopefully keep your spending under control.

The big draw of Spendee is that it allows you to keep your money information “in your pocket”.  Both ‘You Need a Budget’ and ‘Mint’ have mobile apps that work in conjunction with their desktop software, so if you’re already working with those, Spendee is not something that will likely appeal to you. However, if you are not currently budgeting or are looking for something lightweight to just track your finances, Spendee is a perfect option.

It is a very easy app to use. It allows you to schedule bill payments and income and then, as you spend, update your accounts in real time. Purchased an overpriced mocha frappe latte coffee bomb? Update the app and right there it will account for the money spent showing you what you have left over. Unlike other apps, it doesn’t necessarily focus on budgeting so much as only spending money you actually have. Which is great if you find you’re constantly nickel and diming yourself into an overdraft. Spendee is a paid app available in the App Store ($1.99) and Google Play.
