Disposable Battery Charger – turn your ordinary Duracell batteries into rechargeables

disposablebatterycharger

Hands up everyone who gets just the teeniest pang of guilt as they throw away a used set of batteries. It’s that nagging feeling there’s still some juice left you could use if only you weren’t so lazy and wasteful. It’s no wonder that rechargeables have become so popular. But they’re a little expensive, and they also wear out eventually.

Which is why this Disposable Battery Charger is interesting. It’s designed to let you re-charge your standard disposable batteries instead of throwing them away, and it does this by very – very – carefully managing the rate of charge which is pumped back into the depleted cells.

Rather anachronistically it will handle a wide range of batteries you probably don’t use, like big chunky D cells, and those lovely little teeth shocking square P9s, and the claim is it can refresh your old cells up to 10 times. The unit can also re-charge standard rechargeable batteries like NiCd and NiMH, so it’s a win-win for you saviors of the planet. The device costs $79.95 and can handle six standard battery types (AA, AAA etc) and 2 x 9V batteries at a time.

  • That’s pretty good. Whatever happened to those cells you could wind up, maybe it was a concept.
