SpreadThat! Heated Butter Knife – cuts cold butter like butter

SpreadTHAT in use

I never remember to soften the butter. For anything. Having a big breakfast, baking, nothing. It’s always, “Well guess you’re going to have little islands of butter on that muffin. Sorry for my failure.” The SpreadThat! Heated Butter Knife makes this a thing of the past.

The SpreadThat! is a butter knife that is heated using the heat generated by your hand. That way, no matter how cold the butter, the heated knife will cut through it like, well, butter. The knife is made out of material that is perfect for conducting heat, a task that silver is apparently ill equipped for. It takes the knife 20 seconds to heat up and then you’re ready to just start cutting.

Sure you still have to wait a bit but it’s much faster than waiting for a cold stick of butter to soften to room temperature. It’s also good for softening chilled Nutella and chocolate spread as well. Pretty much anything that stiffens when cold. Because it’s electricity free, it’s easy to clean and is ready to use whenever you’re ready to eat. The SpreadThat! Heated Butter Knife is $19.95.

  • I have an ice cream scoop that has some sort of liquid stored in the handle. You just soak it in hot water for a few seconds and it stays hot for a while. Couldn’t I just stick my metal knife in some hot water, let it heat for a few and then butter away. Just a thought.

    • Very good idea. But wet butter…? Hmm… :)

    • No not wet butter. You dry it with your hand towel before sticking it in the butter. Unless of course you like wet butter. LOL
