Cuddle Clones – send them a photo of your pet, get a cuddly plush lookalike back in return

It’s a bit unfair that we humans live longer than our pets, isn’t it? Why couldn’t all animals be like giant tortoises or elephants and have a lifespan approximating ours? Although thinking about it, that might cause a bit of a problem in terms of elderly care. Anyhoo, for those pet owners dreading the inevitable day, here’s a nice little option which could make the loss slightly less painful.

Cuddle Clones is a service which will create a lookalike of your pampered pet, posed in your favorite position. The service is all done online apart from the delivery of course, which takes around 4 months from order. You can specify a number of features you want to include, like ear and tail position, and the better the photos the closer the result should be.

It’s not just cats and dogs either. You can get small pets like hamsters recreated, as well as large ones like horses. There’s also a custom life-size option available, although we’re suspecting the price will be rather high for larger animals (as well as the shipping). The product is also a great gift for friends who are pet mad (you know who they are!), and it’s definitely cheaper than investing in a real $50,000 biological clone.

The results look pretty impressive, even though you’re just looking at a bunch of acrylic fibers and some artfully applied paint. The price of the normal sized clone is $199, while smaller mammals will set you back $129. The company also donates to various pet oriented charities, which is cuddlesome in the extreme.
