It’s 2015 and more people than ever are saying bye bye to their cable bill. With different online services available to the consumer, this is becoming a more possible reality with the most common reason sighted as it being cheaper. The Verge has a nifty calculator called the Cord Cutter to help you figure out if you’re really saving money.
Now this isn’t the end all to be all of calculators. It’s based on American prices (sorry all our international readers!) and it doesn’t calculate anything above the cheapest plan type. So if you have Netflix, for example, with a DVD plan, then you’re be spending a lot more than just the $8.99.
The neat thing it does is give you a list of what channels you’re getting with whatever combination of online streaming vendors you use. So if it’s really important to you to watch a certain show or have a certain collection of movies, this lets you see what it would cost to actually pick that up. It doesn’t tell you how much your internet bill will be however. Check out the website for the calculator.
