We don’t often comment on TV entertainment, but we’re having to give it up to the team behind the Silicon Valley comedy. We’re on series two of this geeky startup comedy show now (and series three has a green light), and the writing remains top class, even if you really need to be a valley nerd to appreciate all of the in-jokes.
What’s really got us chortling though, is the deliberate – almost Inception-like – spill-over from the on-screen fiction to real life. For example, there’s a bunch of billboards currently on display in the actual silicon valley, which is very clever viral marketing indeed. Pied Piper is the name of the fictional startup product, by the way.
But what we’re completely loving is the new website for HooliXYZ, which is a fictional new project set up in the show as a major plot point. The website looks professional enough to intrigue those who are ignorant of the series, but absolutely hilarious if you know the backstory, or indeed the upcoming story.
Sometimes television just gets it right.
