Hiking, hitching, walking, camping. What do all these things have in common? They’re usually all done far away from civilization, and therefore away from the convenience of on-tap electrical power. But of course it necessarily mean you have to suffer without your gadgets.
This Solar Backpack 6W product, features a hefty 6 watt solar panel on the backside of the bag which is designed to capture the sunlight as you travel and so charge up your electricals at the same time. It’s not a new idea, but this model comes with a larger than normal solar panel, which should give you a fighting chance of actually pushing some power into your phones, tablets or whatever.
The whole thing is water resistant (so don’t be tempted to swim with it on) and the bag is larger than your typical backpack at 54 x 39 x 22 cm. The panel also features a USB socket for charging, and although we’re not told how heavy the whole bag is, we can safely assume that you’re going to pay a noticeable weight penalty for the privilege of being able to charge on the go.
Anyhoo, the backpack is available in one color at $86. Note that you’ll need your own power pack if you want to store than sunlight when you’re not charging a device.
