Walking anywhere alone at night can be a very frightening experience. Sound advice is to carry your phone close at hand so you can call for help right away. Some people even call (or pretend to call) a friend so if anything goes wrong, someone is notified as soon as it happens. Companion is an app that makes it easier for people to stay safe when they’re alone.
Companion lets you notify people of where you are and where you are going without having to call them. You enter your destination and tell the app how you’re traveling. You also add your friends and family so they can keep track of your progress and are aware if there’s a delay. If something does come up, you can reach out to your friends or even the police with just a tap of the screen.
By using this app, you will also help build a database of questionable areas while you’re traveling so other people can set their routes based on the information you provide. This app is free for both Android and iPhone.
