HUI! – don’t plant blindly this spring

HUI in use

Urban homesteading is a whole movement but its core is just a desire to be more sustainable. You may not be able to keep chickens and a compost pile but with the smallest space you can at least grow your own food. The HUI is a connected device to help you be a better gardener.

Even if all you have are a few window boxes or a planter on your kitchen counter, you can grow your own food. The HUI will help you grow a variety of foods in two different ways. The first way is as a monitor for your already existing plant projects. The app will keep you abreast of conditions that affect the life of your little green buddies.

The second way it helps you is by letting you know what you CAN plant. Instead of just hoping your spinach sprouts, plant the HUI instead and it let it sit for at least 24 hours. It will let you know what you should plant in that spot throughout the year. The HUI is currently being funded through Kickstarter but it’s met its goal and is expected to ship in December/January. You can pick one up for €45.
