This golf game is all well and good, but there’s one huge hassle. OK two huge hassles. The first is having to trudge around 50 miles of turf to locate and retrieve your lost balls en route to that teeny tiny hole. The second is having to haul a huge bag of clubs while you’re at it. We can’t really do anything about the first problem – just play better all right? – but now the other issue may be history.
The DV8 Backpack Golf Clubs product is, as the name suggests, a backpack full of golf clubs. Just sling the thing over your shoulders and off you go. No hauling involved. The clever bit is the fact that there’s just one shaft, into which you slot all the different heads you’ll need as you hack your way around the fairways and greens.
The shaft is made of graphite, and the heads are titanium and stainless steel, so the kit is definitely not a cheap and cheerful alternative. The fact that it’s a third lighter than a conventional golf club bag set is the real winner. As is the fact you can easily sling this into an overhead locker on a plane and stuff like that. There’s even an iPad pouch for playing Tiger Woods 2015 while you’re waiting to tee off.
The whole kit, including four irons, three woods, sand and pitching wedges and putter, costs $899.95. Weighs 11 lbs.
