If you’ve ever wanted to watch your favorite TV sport or drama program in peace and quiet without being disturbed or disturbing others, then this new Avantree Priva II Bluetooth TV Transmitter could be the product you need. It lets you connect up your wireless headphones to your television or even your Hi-Fi so you can listen in silent bliss. We find out whether it works as well as the marketing says it does.

First impressions
The first thing you notice is how small the device is, literally the size of a small book of matches. It comes with everything you need to get started, including a USB cable, two AV cables, a use guide and a magnetic base. The user guide is also decent enough, but since the device is very easy to set up, there’s not much of a problem. See our video below for our overview of the product in action.

In use
Set up is very easy. Just plug the product into the television, press the pairing button to pair with your choice of wireless headphones, and you’re good to go. You can connect two sets of headphones to the Priva II, which means you can share the love from your television in times of emergency or need. One nice touch is the fact that this can also be a battery powered device, so if you need to travel and want wireless privacy, you’ll get a good 6 to 8 hours listening time from a charge. Nice.

The final thing to mention of course is the audio quality, which is superb. The aptX results in lag free, hiss free sound, with not a glitch in performance at all. It really does demonstrate just how good the protocol is at improving Bluetooth audio.

Conclusion
The Priva II is a great little product which offers superb sound and flexibility at a competitive price. The fact that it’s mains or battery powered, and offers such an easy pairing and connection set up are bonuses.

  • This is very close to something I’ve been looking for for a while. Is there a similar Bluetooth-powered device that can transmit to MANY receivers simultaneously? Think of a headphone tour for a group or a medium sized audience of listeners using their own receiving devices (phones, headphones, etc).
