DRACO – help science end the sniffles forever

meds

No one likes being sick be it the common cold or something far worse, being sick sucks. What if you could take something and just, not catch viruses anymore? Any viruses, cold, flu, HIV, none of it. That’s the vision of one scientist and you can help by contributing to help fund research for DRACO, a killswitch for viruses.

DRACO stands for Double-stranded RNA Activated Caspase Oligomerizers and is basically a shotgun approach for 18 viruses. The same shot that treats the common cold will be able to knock out more deadly illnesses as well because instead of training our bodies to develop specific antibodies, this makes the virus self-destruct on its own by targeting the double stranded RNA that is unique to viruses.

They’re raising money to try to further research to capture more viruses with the treatment and expand to human trials. Although this project has been praised, it has had some trouble acquiring funding. I’m sure there’s a conspiracy buried in there about “Big Pharma” but I digress. If you’re interested in life-saving science or just really hate catching the sniffles, check out this project on IndieGoGo.
