It’s no great secret that more and more jobs are becoming automated and that machines are helping us become more productive in the workplace. This comes at the cost of actual workers in some cases. The more we automate, the less we need people to fill positions. Check out this short animated feature that shows one possible future, where the last worker on Earth receives their pink slip.
Although this particular take is a little on the dark side (ok a lot), it does raise the question of, what will we all do when there are no more jobs? How do we define our worth? How will we support ourselves?
Obviously, if this future comes to pass, some countries will need to massively overhaul their social service net. There’s also the question of who would be affected by the technological take over. This is, in many ways, a stunningly “first world” issue. There are, after all, many places in the world that are not part of our “silicone revolution”. Check out the short, tell us what you think the jobless future holds.
