SPUD – the extra monitor that can go with you anywhere

spud-in-use

Laptop screens are not known for their grand size but you can’t take a second monitor everywhere you go, or can you? The SPUD is a 24-inch display that collapses like an umbrella so you can take it wherever you go.

This screen is basically a projector and screen, rolled into one portable device. You connect via HDMI port and you can use the screen for whatever you want whether it’s watching movies or extra working space. Its portable nature means that you can take it anywhere and it’s all in one set up means that you don’t have to fuss with a lot of extra moving parts.

You can use a wireless adapter for this to view content if you like. The battery will last for three hours at full brightness or six at a lower level. It’s an interesting solution for space for laptop and smartphone based workers and is currently being funded through Kickstarter.  SPUD costs $399.
