DB Export Beer Bottle Sand – the company that’s using waste to help save beaches

Did you know the world was running out of sand? Well, let me rephrase that. There’s lots of sand (whole deserts just FILLED with the stuff) but it’s running out of the kind of sand we need for manufacturing which is a problem. DB Export is taking a stand to save sand with the beer bottle recycling program. It’s turning beer bottles to sand.

The kind of sand that’s in danger, specifically, is beach sand. That’s what we use in a number of products. Desert sand is not the right shape for use in manufacturing. This machine turns used bottles from DB Export into, well, glass sand.

The crushed glass is perfect for the needs of many industries and will hopefully help offset the use of natural sand as it mimics the shape of naturally occurring beach sand. Most recycled glass is broken down and remodeled into other glass products when you recycle it but it is also used for a variety of other types of products. Looks like sand can be added to that list.
