Kerv – pay for your coffee with a wave of your hand

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could pay for things with just a wave of your hand? No card needed, just move your hand over pay pad like some sort of financial Jedi. “The bill has been settled,” you would say as you walk out the door with your coffee and morning muffin in hand. You can live that dream with the Kerv, a payment making ring.

Kerv is a NFC device that allows you to make payments without a smartphone. The catch here is that you have to use MasterCard prepaid account to draw money from. So you can’t just expect it to use money from your account. On the upside it doesn’t need to charged and can be worn at all times so you’re always ready to buy, provided you have the funds.

It’s an interesting concept but it does call for you to keep track of your finances which actually isn’t such a bad thing. It can also be paired with some other uses such as unlocking your door are paying for the metro. Kerv is only available in England right now but you can buy one starting at £99.99.
