Dermal Abyss – the color changing tattoos that can save a life

Tattoos are an art form, an expression of self and one day in the future they may also be a way to gauge our health. MIT is currently studying using tattoos with special “ink” that will be able to monitor our health statues called Dermal Abyss.

These biosensors react to health changes in your body. There are currently four types. One for glucose, two for pH levels and one for sodium. Each one color shifts to show various changes in the body as they happen. If this is adapted it could help people, such as diabetics, keep track of their levels by just looking at their awesome body art.

Right now it’s still being tested and it’s a long way off from being ready for human trials. The concept is still pretty amazing. It has the potential to help many people with a variety of health issues in a stylish way. You can read more about it on the website.
