Orée Keyboard – Made out of wood, smells like wood! [REVIEW]

Well, I had to review something you don’t see each day: a wooden keyboard.

The first thing I did, was go to my grandfather’s place. He was a woodworker in his younger years and confirmed that the Orée Board is indeed real wood. But for $149 you are in for a treat. Every keyboard is made by hand and from one single tree. You can choose between maple or walnut wood, the operating system (Windows or Mac), and the keyboard lay-out. If you want to make it really special, they can engrave some text on the back of the  keyboard.

The keyboard connects via Bluetooth or cable. When fully charged it can last up to 6 months with 8 hours of daily use. (Yes, SIX MONTHS!) Of course it works perfectly (which you would expect), but is it worth the $149? Well if you have $149 laying around and you are looking for a beautiful present that feels and smells like wood (because it’s made from wood, duh), then you’re in the right place. It’s a handmade piece of art and looks beautiful on the desk.

Price is a little high, but that’s because it’s made by hand, piece by piece. Orée also applies an invisible food-safe varnish, which strengthens the wood against stains.

The French company also sells other things like a stylograph, Macbook keyboard cover or a touch slab.

Interested in the keyboard? You can find it here.
