When we think of 3D printing, we think of plastic and sometimes food but mostly plastic. Desktop Metal is the company that wants to move the innovation into metal printing with its 3D metal printer.

This company isn’t the first think of 3D printing metal but they’re the first to bring a “consumer” grade product to life. Metal fabrication like this is usually very expensive and slow, their process is faster and cheaper. The Studio System is aimed at engineers for their building needs.

 

The draw for this would be that your final product is metal, and not some sort of plastic. It would be more durable and well suited for other operations and uses. Either way, it’s still pretty cool. Of course, it’s not one that most people can afford. One of these studio systems cost $120, 000!
