Ecosia – plant trees by surfing the web

There are many things you can do to help the Earth. Recycle your cans, paper, and plastic. Try to reduce your waste by reusing what you can in your life instead of just replacing things. Do a web search and plant some trees. Ecosia is the search engine that plants a tree for every search it does.

To make it easier, you can add the extension for it to Chrome and use it every time you search. It gives a pretty standard search experience with images and videos as well as web hits. The web results were pretty standard so this search engine is fine for general use.

The way it works is that when you search, the ads generate income. The income from these ads are used to plant trees. It’s pretty simple and they’ve already planted more than 14 million. You can help simply by using them the next time you can’t remember some song lyrics. Check out the website to give it a spin.

  • Ironic? I dunno… but this green-friendly site is also a privacy-disrespecting monstrosity and thus a human rights violator. Take a peek at their privacy policy and see for yourself… it’s scary.

    • That’s disappointing.
