Pacemaker – track your word goals with this handy tool

One of the things that writers really love about NaNoWriMo is the awesome tracker that is embedded in the website. It makes it easy to see what you’ve done, how far you have to go and adjust word count so you can still meet your goal, even if you miss some days. Pacemaker Planner is an alternative for those other 11 months of the year.

This web based app lets you make your own goal, whatever that is. You set wordcount and date. Whether it’s one book or 1 million words written in the year, that’s totally up to you. Where this is a bit better than the NaNo counter is that it lets you have a lot of flexibility in your goal. You can set the same word count daily, alternate, slowly build or slowly decrease over the period you’ve set.

It’s designed for writers and students to help them keep track of the things that are working on. You can see your progress in a line graph and if you need to make changes, you can just update the goals. No pressure. There is a free version that allows for one project but the premium option for $8 a month allows for unlimited plans and challenges as well as more story tracking features.
