Driverless cars sound like the future but it doesn’t seem like they’re anywhere close to road ready. A driverless Uber has killed a pedestrian in a road accident in Arizona. The company has stopped all driverless testing but this does not bode well for the innovation.
Driverless vehicles have been much talked about in the last 18 or so months as Uber and other companies are pushing for wider adoption of the technology. The problem is, however, the trolley problem and how the car will handle accidents. One which no significant answer has been given yet.
The causes behind this accident are unknown to the public at this time but Uber has been proactive in removing its test vehicles from the road. The is no margin for error with these trials and an accident like this will likely set testing on the open road back quite a bit. What do you think? Should driverless cars be the way of the future or does this accident just illustrate how dangerous they are?
