Robot Weeder – this device wants to help cut down on chemicals in farming

We use a lot of herbicides in our farming practices. In order to keep crops from being choked out by weeds, we spray things down with chemicals to keep the weeds at bay. This isn’t a great system. The Robot Weeder combs fields and lays down chemicals only where they’re needed.

This robot in use will cut down on herbicides by 20 times because instead of spraying a whole field after the initial layer of chemicals, it targets and treats the only the weeds the manage to pop up after that. Therefore it uses less to get the same effect.

It is solar powered and can run for up to 12 hours on its own. There’s no need for the farmer to do anything, just put it out in the field and let it work. The machine is configured by a smartphone app but it can run without human interference. It figures out where it is with use of it’s camera and sensors and will go about destroying weeds all day long. Contact the company if you have a farm and want more information.
