Following conversations where there are many speakers and not everyone is concerned with accessibility can be very hard for deaf or hard of hearing people. If we lived in a perfect world, everyone would be more cognizant of the needs of others but we don’t so the SpeakSee is the gadget that transcribes speech as it happens.
This little device captures speech and transcribes it to an app as it happens. This allows for deaf and hard of hearing folks to follow along easily. The device has 95% accuracy and even notes different speakers in the conversation by assigning them colors.
You can use multiple microphones in one conversation so that up to nine people will be able to have subtitles in their conversations. The app is free for up to five hours a month which seems like quite a small amount of time. After that you’ll need to sign up for a subscription of $9.99 a month. The actual device is $249 for a single mic.
