BASIC Engine – for 10 Euros, build this retro machine

Back in the 80s, people spent hundreds of dollars on computer and game systems all so we could play that 8-bit goodness in the comfort of our own homes. Today you can get that same look and feel for 10 Euros with the BASIC Engine, the DIY game system.

This is a system that you can build and program yourself using easily found parts and requiring no special skills. The website includes all the information you’ll need to find parts, build your system, and set it up for play.

Designed for games, once you’re done you’ll be able to play a number of text based as well general games on the system. From building to using, literally hours of fun and for a low price. Check out the website for full instructions on how to get parts and building to get you started.

Donyae’s love for technology is based on a need to survive our future robotic overlords. Know thy enemy as you know yourself. But since even odds are on the zombie future, she has also learned how to prepare squirrel. You can find her on Facebook until the robots – or zombies – rise up.
