yWriter – organize your novel as you go

So let’s say that you’re actually planning to give a novel a go this month. Great! Awesome! We’re cheering you on! Make your task a bit easier with yWriter, free word processing and organization software with the novel writer in mind.

This is a word processor that you can use to organize your book. You can write directly in the program or copy and paste, as you like. Essentially it separates everything chapter by chapter, scene by scene. This way you can find things easier when you have to go back and make changes and additions.

It also helps you keep track of characters, locations, and important items. You can check off what stage of writing you’re in and export it to PDF and RTF to work with in other programs. It’s a bit strange to get a handle on but with a few sessions, you get the hang of it. Totally free to download and use. Check out the website for more info.

Donyae’s love for technology is based on a need to survive our future robotic overlords. Know thy enemy as you know yourself. But since even odds are on the zombie future, she has also learned how to prepare squirrel. You can find her on Facebook until the robots – or zombies – rise up.
