SuperscopePSD340

The Superscope PSD340 dual drive CD recorder for musicians. This is one cool tool for anyone who’s into creating music. For example, the dual CD lets you listen to an album, remove the vocals, tweak the tempo or pitch non destructively, and record yourself singing or playing along direct to CD-R or R/W. Great for practice or just composing. It accepts direct input balanced mics, guitars or whatever, and has way too many features to list. It’s also got to be a great way to lay down your own tracks onto a band’s CD demo if you’re living or working too far away to attend in person. Neato product. $999.00.

Designed especially for musicians and music educators who use music CDs for accompaniment, the PSD340 features both a CD recording drive and an innovative MP3 CD player drive capable of real-time changes of key, tempo, and voice reduction on any music CD or MP3 audio file. This rugged and reliable music rehearsal and recording tool from Superscope lets anyone make great sounding CD recordings, create custom practice CDs, and duplicate CDs on the spot.

  • “Remove Vocals” hah! Right…

Anyone with any experience trying to actually do a full vocal removal knows how ridiculous that statement is.

Look closer at the documentation and it talks about “vocal reduction”, probably by using some algorithm where mono-sound (the vocals and whatever else fits the algorithm) are stripped/reduced.

I bet that it’s pretty ineffective when applied lightly and sounds pretty terrible when applied strong.

  • Hmm…they’ve removed the demo video, which gave an example of how it works. Shame, because it didn’t sound too bad as far as I could tell.
