Reforestation is Saving Vulnerable Islands – small communities are turning to sustainability to save their land

As we’ve mentioned before, the effects of climate change are already being felt around the world in places that aren’t greatly thought about. Once such place is the island of Kokota which was disappearing under rising waters. However, the tides were turned with concentrated efforts showing that it’s never too late to start pushing back.

The island is located in Tanzania and has a population of about 500 people. The people live off the land but it became unsustainable and combined with the rising tides thanks to climate change, things were looking bleak.

With the help of a nonprofit and determination, they were able to replant the forests they had lost and are also working on ways to keep such devastation from happening again. Check out the film to learn more.
