Ancient Earth – check out the history of your city with this web app

This week the ten year challenge was the big thing but that’s nothing to the planet. Ten years is a blink of an eye to Earth. See where the Earth was over a real timeline with this cool web app. With it, you can see how the Earth has changed over the past 750 million years.

The first thing you do is put in your address. Not your full address, the city and country is fine. It plots you on the map and then you just choose what time period you want to look at to see where you would have been during Earth’s early years. Spoiler alert, for most of us, where we live at has been inhabitable for great swatches of time.

The planet has gone through many changes and the seeing it like this, with your location as a marker, helps to put things into perspective. The site is free so go enjoy yourselves

Donyae’s love for technology is based on a need to survive our future robotic overlords. Know thy enemy as you know yourself. But since even odds are on the zombie future, she has also learned how to prepare squirrel. You can find her on Facebook until the robots – or zombies – rise up.
