Lightyear One – the solar powered electric car

Electric cars are considered by many to be one of the key components in battling climate change. Getting them on the road, getting emission causing cars off the road, can only help. One of the biggest issues is the range of these cars. After all, leave an urban area and good look finding somewhere to change up that battery. Lightyear One is a solar car that hopes to bridge that gap.

This car is outfitted with a number of solar panels on the roof and hood of the car that will keep the machine running as long as there is sun in the sky. This way drivers can go great distances, without worrying about finding a charge station.

The car can also be charged in charge stations or outlets as a regular electric vehicle. Having this option may push some reluctant people over to electric cars over traditional. Currently you can put one on reserve for you 149,000 Euros and the car is expected to come out in 2021. An amazing concept to be sure but we’ll have to see how this all plays out.
