Carbon to Product – captured carbon to be used in creating new products

Carbon capture is an awesome idea but you may wonder, what are we doing with all the carbon after we keep it from getting into the atmosphere? Well, hopefully, the answer will soon be “it’s recycled to make a ton of useful products.” Captured carbon will be refined and used to make thing we use everyday.

The Cheshire chemical plant which is expected to capture about 40,000 tonnes of carbon, yearly, has a few options for dealing with said carbon. A popular plan includes piping it underground where it will. . . just sit. A better plan is to refine it and use it to produce products.

These products include things like glass and medicines, not a cycle of plastics or garbage. This plan is still in the works and a few years out from being a reality but if it is successful, carbon capture can gain more appeal and we all look forward to having less pollutants in the air.
