Vermicomposting Toilet – conveyor belts and worms for a better outdoor bathroom experience

Humans make a lot of waste. Some of it is natural. I’m talking about using the bathroom which is a gross topic but an important one because when we’re out in nature, we need to go somewhere and just digging a hole in the ground isn’t always a good solution. The Vermicomposting Toilet is the future of outdoor lavatories.

This is a really cool invention that separates liquid and solid waste with a conveyor belt and uses worms to compost the waste. It can run for a number of years without needing to be emptied out and provides a clean and sanitary way to use the potty when you’re on well hiked nature areas and trails.

Turns out that human waste, although biodegradable, isn’t really compostable as the process doesn’t kill off everything that may come through our systems. That being said, these toilets reduce the amount of overall waste that must be treated. A fascinating invention.
