What is the Climate Crisis – quick read through about what’s going on

What is the climate crisis? You might be a bit confused as to what’s causing it and why it’s such a big deal. Why do we care about emissions? What’s the big deal with the oceans getting a little warm? Why is it a crisis? Well this article lays out the basic issues clearly.

First and foremost, CO2 emissions are causing the greenhouse effect and warming the planet. Yes, this is a naturally occurring gas but human activity makes a lot more of it. More than the Earth can handle and they’re rising fast. The planet is warming fast which is not great.

Ice caps are melting and sea levels are rising which may displace large amounts of people. Combined with warming weather and changing patterns of it, this could lead to food scarcity around the world. Which is also not good. All in all, it’s a bleak future and we have to do our best to push back against it now.
