Emissions Higher When It’s Hot – emissions soar with the temperature

Summertime is very, very hot in most of the world and expected to get even hotter. A new issue with that, there are more emissions from diesel cars when the temperature soars. Including the ones that have been certified to be cleaner than older models.

During a test in France, emissions rose by 20-30% on three standard roads, not under or highly traveled areas and on all three there was a rise in emissions for all vehicle types. This means that during the hot weather, individual cars caused more pollution.

Going forward this is something that will need serious consideration as we deal with super heated urban environments. After all, no one is going to want to walk when it’s blazing hot outside. But when it’s not, maybe limit your car rides, save those emissions points for when you really need them.
