Plastic Roads – from bags to blacktop

There’s a lot of plastic in the world and most of it ends up in landfills and the environment, not in a recycling center. This is a very bad thing. One solution is to just take some of that plastic and make roads out of it.

The plastic is taken from a variety of sources depending on the company. It can be recycled material or excess from plastic companies. Either way, it’s formed into pallets that can be melted down and mixed into more standard road materials.

The final result looks and acts the same as any traditional road and is perhaps a bit better as the plastic makes a little more flexible and able to withstand wear so there aren’t as many potholes. Though not a wide spread practice, this material can help to keep plastic from going into the environment.
