There’s a lot of discussion about the pollution that we can see, namely plastic in most cases. But lets not forget that it’s not just the bags that are a problem for the environment, we use a lot of chemicals and those chemicals are getting into the ecosystem too. A new study has found very high levels of toxic chemicals in bottle-nose dolphins.
The samples were taken from animals living in the English Channel off the French coast. Things like mercury and pesticides were found in high concentration throughout the samples taken from the animals. Even worse, there is evidence that mothers are passing chemicals to their babies.
It’s important to remember that it’s not just the trash but the run offs from the trash that may stay present in the environment for much longer than we think.
