Algae For Everything – ocean plant may be a key to a more sustainable future

The future needs to be sustainable or no matter what choices we make in getting rid of waste, cutting carbons, and whatever else, we’ll just end up back in the same position again. Enter algae, the ocean’s wonder plant that has use in a wide variety of ways.

Trees are our usual go to when it come to saving the world from the destruction of emissions but algae as unassuming at is, floating in the ocean, being food and habitat for a number of sea creatures, can also act as a carbon sink.

It can be used as fuel, food, and building material as well, just like trees! It’s really versatile stuff! But there are some issues with getting products that rely on it to market. Algae is pretty hard to manage, growth wise, and the industry likely won’t be a profitable one. The first issue can be moved past with new technology the second, well maybe it’s time to shift our visions away from profit?
