Recently it was pretty widely reported that the hole in the ozone was the smallest that it had been in three decades but as we said in our coverage of it, this doesn’t mean that it’s not still a problem and science agrees. The hole is smaller this year, but we still have to remain vigilant about it.
The smaller hole was likely caused by any number of factors and leading scientist on the matter, Dr. Jonathan Shanklin, believes that we shouldn’t see it as anything other than anomaly. So CFC cans down (those are the class of chemicals that caused the hole in the first place, btw, some countries still manufacture them).
Things are getting better but they are not fixed, the problem persists. So we must continue to work towards sustainable lifestyles so they do not get worse for everyone.
