Cassette tapes are not exactly in use for the vast majority of people anymore but they sure are nostalgic. I mean, we still make MIX TAPES despite them . . . no longer being on tape. In any case, the iconic medium is in trouble due to a world wide shortage of gamma ferric oxide needed to make them.

I know, a lot of questions here. First off being, who is buying cassette tapes and for what purpose? I don’t have an answer but it must be someone for a good reason because there still exists a record label by the name of NAC that is putting them out.

But it turns out that these simple formats need quite a bit of gamma ferric oxide in their making and there’s only one place that still makes it and they have been out of commission. But hope springs eternal and NAC is still making this format for all you retro geeks out there.
